Organized Ufo Sky Watch In Yucatan
It's officially called an "Alerta ONVI" and the Yucatan Times claims these are popular events worldwide but especially in Spain, where thousands of UFO enthusiasts are said to gather and look for UFOs.
The first Alerta ONVI in the State of Yucatan will be held in the Colonia San Benito at La Sierrita in the city of Ticul. The Alerta starts at 8:30 pm and ends at 4:00 am. No food or drinks, especially alcohol, are allowed since this is a serious UFO watching activity.
Why is the Alerta ONVI being held there? Outside of the climate and scenery, the main reason seems to be because Yucatan has been a hotspot for UFO activity this year. On October 2nd, a UFO was reported in Progresso. Described as "a very bright blue light, traveling first in a straight line then zig-zagging," there were reportedly six witnesses, although none took any photographs or videos even though Progresso is known to have frequent UFO sightings.
Some earlier sightings in the Yucatan were recorded. This one took place on June 21st and was described as "squid-shaped."
This one was seen on February 11th in Merida, Yucatan.
Many believe that the Mayans had contact with UFOs and there have been reports of the Mexican government secretly holding documents and artifacts attesting to this.
