It was all pretty simple stuff: find a twig, find a rock, find a ray of sunshine. There was no way we could lose, or so we thought. At the bottom of the list was "Find a price of rabbit fluff."
Rabbit fluff? How the hell do you find stray rabbit fluff laying around the forest? We were screwed, and we were pissed. How could the judges throw us such a screwball? Did they want us to lose?

As we stood there in the woods, lost in our despair, one of us -- I don't remember who -- picked up a cigarette butt and started picking at it. Somehow, a light went on and inspiration struck. The shredded filter tip looked kind of like.... rabbit fluff. Suddenly we knew we could win; all we had to do was shred the filter tip as finely as we could and then "don't crack" when the judges inspect it. It was the perfect crime.
The judge was immediately suspect. Clearly, he never expected anyone to come up with any rabbit fluff... He looked at it. He touched it. He smelled it. He lit it on fire and smelled the smoke... We thought we were dead. Then, his face screwed up in disgust, the judge said, "I hate to do it, but it's definitely rabbit fluff."
We won.
Why do I bring this up now? Because I have been trying very hard to catch up on my MUFON caseload this week, and I've noticed something odd. I've been able to interview four witness in the last two days, and, although I can't prove anything, I think I've been rabbit fluffed "three times over!"
Let's go over the cases one by one:
Case #1: A witness reported seeing two brilliantly-lit objects in the sky fly overhead one after the other. Both were silent and slow-moving, shapeless but with a brilliant white centers and orange outlines. The objects moved across the sky and then disappeared... He tried to chase the second one in his car, but lost it.
In our interview, the witness was very enthusiastic about the brilliance of the two objects, describing them as "plasma lights" over and over again. To me they sounded suspiciously like Chinese lanterns, and sure enough, the witness at one point brought up that possibility... But then he quickly dispensed with that idea, declaring unequivocally that "Nobody around here would launch Chinese lanterns."
The witness seemed sincere, but I couldn't help feeling I was being rabbit fluffed, even if unintentionally. I listed his sighting as a "Man-Made Identified Flying Object (IFO)".

Case #2: A witness discovered an object on a photo he had taken last fall. He hadn't seen the object when he took the shot. It was a gray-brown squiggly blurry thing far out over the waters of Lake Michigan. I didn't think to ask him what he thought he was taking a picture of, but I should have, because it's just a photo of some very boring land and water and sky. What he thought was worth photographing is beyond me.
Even though he never actually saw the object out over the lake, he likes to speculate. He told me over and over again that he is convinced the object in the photo looks like a space vehicle with an ion engine, possibly something along the lines of the US Enterprise, or if not that then a US military anti-grav vehicle.
I see a seagull. I listed his sighting as a Natural Identified Flying Object (IFO).

Case #3: A witness saw a light in the sky and took a very long video from his car as he chased the light. MAY 29, 2013 - UNITED STATES - I've been writing BROKEN SECRETS for a little over 3 years and UFOs are something I wanted to cover at some point. It's a difficult subject; there's so much information, mostly poor or difficult to confirm information and little that seems reliable and interesting. But there are also some little gems that are compelling and enlightening.
A UFO is simply an Unidentified Flying Object. It doesn't necessarily mean it's alien - just that you're not going to find someone who knows what it is or be willing identify it if they are one of the few who may know.
In May of 2011, the public got an unplanned unveiling of the US Military's "Stealth Hawk" Helicopter when it was damaged during the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. Technically, it's still a UFO since we don't know exactly what it is - educated guesses are that it is a heavily modified Sikorsky MH-60M Black Hawk.
Back in 2007, another top secret stealth aircraft was discovered: the RQ-170 Sentinel spy drone. About a year later, Iran claimed to capture one - multiple news sources claim U.S. government sources have confirmed Iran's possession of the drone. If it weren't for the discovery a year earlier, it would have been considered a UFO too.
Stealth helicopters and drones are not what people typically think of when they hear "UFO". The stereotypical UFO from the 1950s looks like a flying saucer. In recently declassified documents, it turns out there were in fact full sized flying saucers in development.
It's widely known in aviation circles that the small flying saucer "Avrocar" was in development and being tested by the US military. But, the much larger designs seemed more like science fiction than reality.
Two Avrocars were delivered to the US military for testing. That was after extensive testing and development work was done on a larger scale flying saucer, the PV-704. The Avrocar was built when constant challenges facing the PV-704 test model warranted a smaller proof-of-concept be constructed.
The Avrocar worked. It took off vertically and moved forward but it was eventually scrapped because it was under-powered and difficult to control. It's possible that today's engines, building materials and computer systems might be able to make a better Avrocar.

My husband and I have been watching object / objects in the sky the entire month of October. Tonight Nov 1sr the object appeared much larger and was white with out the usual colorful lights. I picked up the binoculars expecting to see the colored lights with them, but this object was an elongated oval or cigar shape with white pulsating lights outlining it top and bottom. What was very unusual is that what would be described as the oval body was more a silver white shade with at least 100 tiny sparkling lights. It almost looked elegant. This was total opposite in appearance as to what we had been seeing in the same area, NE of us towards Pittsburgh, PA. The third time I looked at it through the binoculars, it had morphed into an elongated boxy rectangle shape. There were other objects that looked like what we had seen in October in the sky also, and two took a flight path to the west. They were much closer than a jet and had what would be described as a gliding motion... they just glided across the night sky much lower, much larger, and quicker than a jet or helicopter. I told my husband You have to see this. He looked through the binoculars and immediately said Go get the camera. He was a previous skeptic. The repeated sightings in October have changed him into a possible believer, but this sighting tonight has finally converted him. He was very disappointed that I could not catch anything on film using two different digital cameras. I have no idea what type of camera would work.... Tonight's sighting is like nothing we have ever seen before or could have imagined. The entire object looked almost transparent and glowed and sparkled white. It is now 2100 11 pm est and I am going to go back out to see if it is still there. Time: 5:45 a.m. and 6:39 a.m.
My name is (name removed) I have lived in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada for most of my life. I'm 40 years old and completely healthy both body and mind. I do belief now that there is life out there after what I'm going to tell you.
It all began on August the 6th 2013 at 5:45 a.m., I have just woken up from sleep. To my surprise I could hear footsteps on my roof. In my opinion I imagine that the neighbors next door were fooling around and jumping from there roof to my roof.
So I went outside to investigate and to my surprise there was no one on the roof. I questioned the sound of footsteps on the roof as I could clearly distinguish the sounds between a bird or human footsteps, they were clearly moving footsteps, two of them on the roof, one after the other.
On August the 7th, 2013 about 6:39 a.m. haven awaken to the sounds of footsteps on the roof again. I proceed to investigate. I went out the front door walked to the side of the house and looked to see if there was anyone on the side of the house.
There was no one on there roof. Once again I questioned myself about the footsteps that I herd on the roof over top of my bed that sounded like a shuffle in a circular pattern.
A couple of these episodes continued for three days and on the final day around 10:00 p.m. August the 10th at night I was sitting on my steps on the west side looking up to the east when I clearly could see a large triangular object with three bright lights.
It's approximate distance was about 2000 feet to 3000 feet maybe more or less. It had three perfect spaced bright luminescent lights at each point of the triangle.
The triangle had even summitry the lights and triangular object were not like scattered stars all over the place. In an hour upon it's arrival the perfectly sized triangular object with the bright lights disappeared.
Now I question what could this be, I have no clear answer, that is why I'm writing you this letter. Can you help me understand what is going on, is this real. I think in my mind it is because it did happen.
I was there, I was alert, conscious. It always happened in the early morning around 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. I think this encounter, these things that happened are UFOs or E.T.
Well to tell you the truth, I kid you not this did real happen.

Many may not know about it, but the well-known Arecibo Radio Observatory, in Puerto Rico, although mainly used for radio-astronomy research, and allegedly belongs to the University of Cornell, is in fact a project that belongs to the Department of the Defense of the U.S.A., and has been used since the 60's to carry out studies on new intercontinental missile weapons of the Armed Forces of that nation, and in more recent years in studies of the high Earth atmosphere, especially of the ionosphere, with the intention to obtain more knowledge on its characteristics, in order to apply such knowledge in the controversial Project H.A.A.R.P. The Arecibo Radio Observatory has been used as an atmospheric heater.
On the other hand, although the scientists who operate the fabulous Arecibo Radio Observatory have always denied that the so called UFO phenomenon exists, or the possibility that alien beings from other planets of the Cosmos visit us on Earth, the truth is that they have covertly participated in investigations related to the UFO subject.
Evidence of this is an official internal memo of the State Civil Defense Agency of Puerto Rico, known today as the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Agency. In the memo, with date of October of 1991, its then director, Colonel Jos'e A. M. Nolla, states flatly that personnel from the Arecibo Radio Observatory was participating in a secret study that several U.S. military and security agencies, in addition to several Puerto Rican state government agencies, were making at that moment pertaining to the heavily strong incidence of UFO /alien related events of all type that affected the archipelago of Puerto Rico between the years 1991 and 1992. The memo indicated emphatically that what was happening in Puerto Rico was real.
Such a remark contradicts the statements of the Arecibo Radio Observatory scientific officers and technicians in the sense that there is no such thing as the UFO phenomenon or possible alien based incidents.
Also, as a matter of fact, there have been a series of very significant events in the zone where the Radio Observatory is located at, events that indicate that unidentified flying objects, or those who control them, watch closely the activities and research being made there.
We have previously published information about sightings of UFOs and incidents of encounters with their crew, given to us by residents in the sector where this important scientific center is located at. On this occasion we present here the declarations given to us recently by two officers who work in the Radio Observatory facility, while visiting the center together with an American couple, Mr. Douglas Taylor and his wife Serena, who live in California. "THEY ARE HERE"
The first of them, officer Pedro Perez, revealed to us that he had personally seen a "... very rare flying device" while driving his personal car on highway #635, leaving the zone of the Radio Observatory in direction to the town of Lares. "It happened a little more to the south - he said -, south of the Radio Observatory area, not exactly above this site. I was with my son, and we both saw it. It was a quite large object, with a spherical shape, like a huge metallic sphere, silverplated, with a brightly polished surface. It was suspended up in the air, in the sky, totally motionless". He continued explaining: "It did not have any doors or windows, nor any motor or engine, nothing at all. It just remained there, suspended in the sky, and at one moment it made a sudden fast movement to the south and went away, and we lost it from sight".
According to Mr. Perez, the large silver-plated metallic sphere he observed did not emit any sound, and as already explained, was totally fixed in the sky in a position close to the Radio Observatory facilities, until the moment of going away.
"The so called OVNIs (UFOs) are real -he added -, we have seen them here, so I do not have any doubts about that any more. However, we have to find out where they come from and who are those behind them ", finally, said the security officer.
On the other hand, another one of the officers, Mr. Jose V'elez, declared to us that he has observed on several occasions "...some large mysterious spheres of light shining with a bluish-white tonality, like that of light emitted from electrical arc welding", which approach the Radio Observatory and suspend themselves over the area, increasing and diminishing their size. "For me - V'elez said - that growing and diminishing in size could very well be an optical effect, probably they are approaching and moving away and we perceive this as if they were growing in size or getting smaller".
"I have seen those balls of light several times - he added -, and I have tried to explain to myself what they are, but definitively they are something non identifiable, and they seem to be under an intelligent control".
Finally, we asked both officials if they had notified to the officials of the Radio Observatory about their sightings of such anomalous objects in the area, and they both responded "No".
They also responded to us when we asked them about it, that the scientific officers or directors of the Arecibo Radio Observatory have never prohibited them to speak out on the subject, but they also stated that as a matter of fact the UFO subject is not discussed there at all.
MORE EVENTS
The truth is that there have been many other such events at the site and in the surrounding area nearby. Here are only some of the reports we have received from serious and reliable witnesses, but there are many more:
1. Policemen have witnessed a large luminous cylinder shaped object suspended in the air at close distance right over the Radio Observatory.
2. Residents in the zone have observed landings of silvery looking metallic saucer shaped crafts and the emergence from them of both human type looking and humanoid looking crews, dressed in tightfitting silvery suits.
3. Witnesses have observed landed saucer-shaped silvery crafts take off into the sky after having had been in close contact with a human personnel that departs from the site in a white van type vehicle. The area where this has happened is a flattened out mound at the edge on road #10, close to the Radio Observatory facility.
4. Witnesses have observed fully armed U.S. military personnel in 'Hummer' type jeeps chasing brightly lit ovoid objects that fly into Rio Abajo forest, located right in the background sector of the area in which the Radio Observatory is located at.
